Meet Our Vets
Dr. Jessica Gernhard
Dr. Gernhard established the Animal Health Center of Marion County in 1996. She grew up on a farm near Tampa, and graduated from Centre High School before attending Kansas State University. Dr. Gernhard has spent many hours over the years building the practice to serve the communities in and near where she grew up. Dr. Gernhard enjoys all sizes of animal. She really enjoys the outdoors, the farmland and the open pastures of this area, and couldn't see living anywhere that could be much nicer, but does like to go visit the ocean for vacation time. Her husband Mike is the tactical communications specialist for the state of Kansas working in the J6 office in Topeka.
Dr. Rebecca Erwin
Dr. Erwin has been with us since 2006. Dr. Rebecca Erwin has become certified to practice Chiropractic care on horses and pets in 2013. Smart, smiling, hard working, and staying to task until complete are some qualities she brings to practice. She owns a place southwest of town with her husband Corey. They have two daughters.
Our Office Staff
Steph Andres
Steph graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science. Steph started working for us in high school. You will commonly see Steph assist Dr. Erwin. When she is not at work you will usually find her with her husband and daughter or with her many goats. Steph trail rides on the weekends and lives near Lincolnville, while her goats are still near Marion as are her parents.
Sarah Smith
Sarah has also worked for us since high school. She helps out in many areas of the clinic, and commonly assists Dr. Gernhard. Sarah has four great boys. Sarah and her husband Justin currently live in Marion, but spend much time at both parents' farms. Sarah and the kids enjoy raising pigs and calves for 4-H projects as well as riding horses.
Alli Mitchell
Alli Mitchell Is our Office Manager. She grew up in Marion, and graduated from MHS in 20188. During high school, she worked for us working in the kennels and as a support staff. Alli earned an associate's degree in accounting from Butler Community College, and was promoted to office manager after. Alli married Brock Mitchell in 2022. They have 2 adorable dogs named Piper and Hank and a son Carter who is also adorable. . They live at the county lake in the home Alli grew up in.
Jagger Miller
Jagger Miller grew up in Marion, and graduated form MHS in 2024. Jagger worked for us in high school. After high school, he worked as a CNA and attended technical school in Emporia, then came back to us to work as receptionist. Jagger has purchased his first home, which allows him space for his two dogs, Beau and Olive, one cat Obi, and now baby chicks! In his spare time he loves spending time with family, friends, pets and renovating his house.
